The Maxxis Tire 350Z ran great all weekend. The crowd was huge, possibly the biggest drift event in US history. “Team NOS” driver Chris Forsberg qualified 2nd overall behind Formula D points leader Tanner Foust. Chris then proceeded to knockout one competitor at a time to get to the top 4 round, where he was matched up against Dai in the Rockstar sponsored Nissan S15. Both drivers had been setting some of the highest speeds and deepest angles all night. Fans were on their feet as the drivers went off for their first set of runs. Both drivers made slight errors bringing on a one more time. The next set of runs were flawless for Chris but Dai made a fatal error giving Chris the victory and 2nd Place in the Championship. Chris was then paired up against Tanner Foust who had already locked in the Championship but was looking for his first win of the season. Both 350Z’s were on point but a slight correction by Chris on the bank was just enough to give Tanner the overall victory.

Chris’ 2nd place finish also sealed 1st place in the prestigious Tires.com “Triple Crown” where the points were added up from 3 of the largest Formula Drift events (Atlanta, Sonoma and Irwindale).

At the Formula Drift Awards Banquet on Sunday night, the awards kept coming as Chris was voted “Driver of the Year” by the Formula Drift Competitors and Team members. The team also won “Mechanic of the Year” (Team Crew Chief Kevin Wells) and “Best Rivalry” (Chris Forsberg and Tanner Foust).
