Kyle Busch, a Las Vegas native, began his racing career at age 12 and quickly ascended through the ranks to join what is currently known as the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series in only eight years. Widely respected as one of the leading talents in the Nextel Cup garage, Kyle’s resume includes several milestone accomplishments, including being the youngest Nextel Cup rookie of the year at age 20. Kyle is also on record as the youngest driver to win a Nextel Cup race (20 years, four months, two days) after posting his first career victory at California Speedway in September 2005 during his rookie season. During his sophomore effort, Kyle became the youngest Nextel Cup driver to qualify for the Chase for the Nextel Cup. To date, he has a total of four Nextel Cup wins, two poles, 27 top-fives and 47 top-10 finishes in 107 career starts.
The upcoming 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup season represents the next phase in Kyle’s pursuit of the driver’s championship. He moves from the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Kellogg’s Chevrolet to the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Mars Toyota, joining new teammates #20 Tony Stewart (2-time champion) and #11 Denny Hamlin (’06 Rookie of Year). With primary sponsorship support from Mars’ M&M brand and longtime Joe Gibbs Racing sponsor Interstate Batteries, Kyle is expected to be a consistent threat to win races and the overall Chase for the Sprint Cup each year.
