Chris Forsberg Takes Charge in the Great Northwest
The round 4 of the Formula Drift Series took place this last weekend as the countries best drifters converged in the great northwest, Seattle WA. NOS Energy’s own Chris Forsberg came in the event in 2nd place after a jaw dropping performance in Atlanta for round 2 where he took top honors and to keep the momentum going, a top 5 finish in Summit Point, WV.
The Team was well prepared and ready for battle as practice began Friday. With the high speed track layout, the Nissan 350Z’s Titan V8 motor powered through the course blazing the Maxxis MA-ZA Drift tires, Chris qualified 5th, placing him in a great bracket for tandem. He first ran against Darren McNamera where Chris’ powerful V8 proved to be too much for McNamera’s 4 cylinder and he moved on to the Great 8. Next Chris faced new comer Bill Sherman who up until that point was putting down smooth and fast runs. Chris laid him to rest putting down 2 flawless runs and advancing to the top 4. In the top 4 Chris faced his toughest competitor yet, the Ford Mustang of Drift Alliance team mate Vaughn Gittin Jr. Heading into the first bank, this pairing was looking to be the best of the day when suddenly Chris’ rear wheel tapped the outside wall whipping the front end around into the wall and ending Chris’ day. “We had a great run, the team was well prepared and we did very well gaining on Tanner for the championship” said Chris. “I was pushing the 350Z all weekend scraping the rear bumper against the wall and as JR and I started around the bank my rear bumper caught something on the wall and spun my front end around ending our event early. We’re really pleased at our performance, and know, we could have gone all the way.”
Chris Forsberg gained 8 points on Tanner Foust for the formula Drift Championship. The next event is in Sonoma, CA on August 11th.
