Solid Short Track Run for the Young Driver as Points Chase Continues On

MOORESVILLE, NC (April 3, 2007) – Chad McCumbee and theGPSstore.com / Garmin put on an impressive showing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event on Saturday at Martinsville Speedway (VA). For the majority of the 250-lap feature, he team was up front, and looked to be in contention for the win. Bad luck would prevent the No. 08 Chevy from getting the finish that the team deserved.

"I am really satisfied with the way we performed at Martinsville," said McCumbee. "TheGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet was really good. We have not had the best of luck at the short tracks last year and this time I really felt like we had a top-five truck. We were able to run in the top-five for about 50 laps or so, and we were able to lead a few green flag laps.

"We got a lot of experience and a lot of good notes that we will be able to use the next time that we go back to a short track."

Once the race was underway the No. 08 team worked their way up to the front of the field, but a late-race incident would prevent theGPSstore.com / Garmin Chevrolet from finishing in the top-10.

"Unfortunately it didn't end the way that we wanted it to," added McCumbee. "Another competitor got into us near the end. It was just close short track racing and it got down to crunch time. We were running 13th, and it was close racing and sometimes things happen, unfortunately. We got punted a little bit and got in to the wall pretty substantially with about 15 to go. We just had to limp around and collect the points and finish the race. We had to settle for 24th, but we still have a lot of momentum going forward."

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will be back in action on Saturday April 28th at Kansas Speedway.
