Carburetor problems end day

Concord, NC (October 9, 2007) – "Team NOS" driver Chad McCumbee, driver of the #8 theGPSstore.com/Garmin Chevrolet, didn’t get the finish that he or the team were looking for on Saturdays running of the Mountain Dew 250.

McCumbee started the race in 15th position. Quickly moving up through the field "Team NOS" driver McCumbee ran in the top ten till the first pit stop. After receiving gas and four tires, McCumbee headed back out in 17th position. After the pit stop McCumbee made his way back up to the lead draft and was holding steady. "We had a very competitive truck all race, we were on schedule with the leaders for the finish. We were out there just riding around, waiting till there was 15 or so to go," said McCumbee.

McCumbee was getting ready to come to pit road under green flag conditions for a scheduled stop when the caution came out. With pit road closed, McCumbee road around under caution till pit road opened. "When I came down pit road the truck started to sputter. By the time I reached my pit box, it was out of fuel." The team was able to get the theGPSstore/Garmin Chevy fired back up. "As soon as the green flag dropped, I knew that something was not right" McCumbee said. The team brought the truck back down pit road to further diagnose the problem. After going several laps down, the team changed their carburetor and headed back out, ending the day in 24th position.

"It was really unfortunate that we had problems with theGPSstore.com/Garmin Chevrolet, I think we would have had a really good day. The momentum from Vegas definitely followed us to Talladega." McCumbee said. "Its really cool to have had the truck in the top 5 or 10 the past two weeks. I really think we have put ourselves on the radar for the rest of the year." McCumbee will be back in the truck at Atlanta, one of his favorite tracks.
